Famous landmark in Visakhapatnam and one the most popular tourists attractions in Andhra Pradesh, Dolphin's Nose, the huge rocky promontory with a cliff rising 174m above the sea. The shape of the rock resembles a dolphin’s nose. Facing the cool, blue ocean massive hillrock, also known as black mores hill.
Every year thousands of tourists from the different parts of the world come to this site to witness its beautiful natural location. The mammoth rocky shelters the harbour, from where manganese and iron ore are shipped out. It also serves as the head quarters of Eastern naval Command. Visakhapatnam port trust’s powerful lighthouse situated atop the hillock with 7 million candle power is visible from more than 65km out to sea. A lighthouse stands majestically on the headland and serves as a navigational aid for passing ships.
Waltair the hilly seaside area is edged by long beaches affording vies across the Bay of Bengal and the busy Kolkata-Chennai shipping lane.
By roadways visakhapatnam is 650 km from Hyderabad and 350 km from Vijayawada.
